Armen Arevian

CEO and Founder of Chorus Innovations

Dr. Armen Arevian is founder and CEO of Chorus Innovations. Prior to Chorus, he was Assistant Professor-in-Residence in the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA; Director of the Innovation Lab at the Semel Institute at UCLA; and Director of Consultation-Liaison and Telepsychiatry at the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital. He received his medical degree and PhD in neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh and completed residency training in Psychiatry at UCLA. As an Assistant Professor at UCLA, his work focused on “participatory informatics,” an approach that involves patients, providers, and other leaders in directly creating high-quality digital health tools to improve engagement, relevance, and address disparities in health technologies.

In 2018, Dr. Arevian created Chorus, a digital health technology platform, to support a participatory approach to software development. This platform aims to lower barriers to creating technologies and place people at the center of digital health innovation. Dr. Arevian’s work highlighted that the cost, complexity, and expertise required to develop digital solutions were major barriers. These barriers limited who could be involved in tech creation, what solutions were made and for whom, and the overall ability of health systems to innovate and adapt to meet changing needs.
