A4i is a validated, co-designed mobile app and clinical portal supporting individuals with severe mental illnesses, focusing on underserved populations. The platform is a Joint Venture between Canada’s largest mental health teaching hospital, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), and Canada’s leading digital patient engagement platform, MEMOTEXT. Co-designed with patients, families, and clinicians, A4i has been iterating and validating since 2016 to address the needs of communities facing significant mental health challenges.
A4i includes a mobile app for patients and a clinical web portal for care coordination, enabling those living with severe mental illness (SMI), peer-support workers, and clinicians to collaborate more effectively. The platform targets recovery in psychosis, schizophrenia, and opioid use disorders, utilizing technology like a patented auditory hallucination detector and AI-driven risk detection from posts within a secure, anonymized social network.
A4i’s holistic approach empowers patients, scales peer-support efforts, and provides clinical decision support. This comprehensive structure aims to reduce relapse rates and hospital readmissions, offering crucial support to those in need. Validated clinically and in real-world settings like CAMH, The Royal Mental Health Centre in Ottawa, and Riverside University Health System in California, A4i has shown significant system and clinical outcomes improvements.
